From Tuesday 22 September 2026, multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be mandatory for all users signing in to the GBG Detected case management platform.
If your organisation uses SSO, this doesn't affect you. Authentication is handled by your own identity provider and nothing is changing. You can stop reading here.
This email is going to primary contacts and administrators. Please read it in full and share the setup instructions with your team — there are a couple of things worth sorting out before the date.
What is changing From 22 September, every user will need a one-time code in addition to their password. On their first login after that date, each user will be prompted to scan a QR code with an authenticator app on their phone. The app then generates a six-digit code, which refreshes every 30 seconds.
Setup takes about a minute and only happens once. Users can also tick "Remember this device for 30 days" at login, so they won't be asked for a code every time on their usual browser.
Why we're doing this MFA is one of the most effective controls against account compromise, particularly phishing, credential reuse and password-based attacks. Enabling it protects the platform and keeps your data more secure.
Following industry best practice, we will not be supporting SMS codes. Authenticator apps are widely considered a stronger approach and are the standard across enterprise platforms.
What you need to do now 1. Ensure that no accounts are shared across users and if so create dedicated accounts for each user 2. Check that each user has a mobile phone on which they can install an app. 3. Ask your users to install an authenticator app before 22 September. Auth0 Guardian, Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator all work, if they already have one of these installed then there is no action required at this stage. 4.
